Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often lighter in scale than heavy Victorian pieces, drawing inspiration from earlier 18th-century Sheraton and Hepplewhite designs.

Cabinet makers typically utilised solid mahogany or satinwood veneers, frequently embellished with delicate boxwood and ebony stringing, satinwood inlay, and brass hardware.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, traditional timber shrinkage patterns, period-appropriate glass with minor imperfections, and genuine patination on the wood surfaces.

Pairing traditional timber pieces with neutral walls and minimalist modern decor creates a balanced focal point, allowing the craftsmanship and displayed collectibles to stand out.

Maintain timber integrity by keeping the cabinet out of direct sunlight, avoiding excessive humidity fluctuations, and periodically applying a microcrystalline wax to nourish the polished surface.
