Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian display cabinet is made from warm brown mahogany with flame mahogany door panels, satinwood inlay, and a central mirror back. The upper section has a shaped, moulded pediment, curved astragal glazing bars on the side-glazed doors, and a bevelled edge mirror. Below sits a bowed double cupboard with marquetry inlay in the centre, supported by Queen Anne style cabriole legs with carved detail on the shaped apron. The interior contains three display shelves lined with patterned green fabric. The whole piece measures 223.5 cm high, 137.5 cm wide, and 38 cm deep. Suitable for a living room, dining room, or hallway, this cabinet provides practical storage and display space for china, glassware, or decorative objects. The glass-panelled sides and doors allow light to enter from multiple angles, illuminating the shelves within, while the lower cupboard conceals items that require discreet storage. The compact depth ensures it sits comfortably against a wall without taking up excessive floor space in a traditional or modern interior.

Edwardian display cabinets feature lighter, more elegant proportions than earlier Victorian designs, frequently incorporating mahogany construction, satinwood marquetry inlays, central mirror backs, and delicate astragal glazing.

These cabinets were predominantly crafted using solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, fitted with hand-cut or bevelled glass, brass cabinet fittings, and decorative timber inlays such as satinwood or rosewood.

Authentic Edwardian pieces exhibit precise joinery including hand-cut dovetails, original timber backboards, natural age-related oxidisation in the wood, and slight irregularities in historical glass panes.

Place the cabinet against a neutral wall to emphasize the dark wood tone, and fill the interior shelves with a minimalist arrangement of modern ceramics, art glass, or books to balance historical detail with modern simplicity.

Dust timber surfaces regularly with a soft cloth, apply beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain moisture, and clean the glass using a soft cloth dampened with dilute glass cleaner to protect nearby polished wood.
