Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Dutch marquetry furniture, originating primarily in the 17th and 18th centuries, is distinguished by intricate floral and foliation inlays executed in contrasting woods, ivory, or mother-of-pearl set into rich walnut veneers.

These cabinets typically feature a solid timber framework veneered in figured walnut, with decorative inlays crafted from lighter fruitwoods, boxwood, and holly, complemented by cast brass handles and glass panels.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, irregular hand-blown glass, natural shrinkage lines along veneer seams, and subtle colour variation in the inlaid woods resulting from age.

Position the cabinet as a focal piece against a neutral wall, utilising its glazed upper section to showcase ceramics, glassware, or books to balance historical craft with contemporary aesthetics.

Maintain stable humidity levels to prevent veneer lifting, keep the cabinet away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and apply a high-grade beeswax polish sparingly with a soft cloth to protect the finish.
