Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian hall chairs were designed specifically for entryways and vestibules during the nineteenth century. They provided temporary seating for messengers, servants, or visitors awaiting entry into the main reception rooms of a residence.

These chairs were crafted from solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut. They feature unupholstered wooden seats designed to withstand wet outerwear, combined with turned or tapered front legs and carved backrests.

Authentic period hall chairs feature hand-carved details, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and natural wear to the solid seat. The backrests often display heraldic shields, crests, or scrollwork typical of the era.

Position a pair of hall chairs on either side of a hallway console table or inside an entrance foyer to establish architectural symmetry. Their timber silhouettes also function well as occasional accent seating in a study.

Dust the timber surfaces regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the chairs away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent shrinking or splitting.
