Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Art Deco vanity mirror dates to 1930 and follows a classic frameless design typical of the period. The piece consists of a silvered glass plate featuring an arched top, bevelled scalloped edges, and a shaped border, supported by a mahogany back with a pull-out easel support and small pad feet. The glass displays very light wear to the plate, whilst the edges reveal decorative shaping typical of 1930s glasswork. Measuring 36 cm high, 26 cm wide, and 2 cm deep, the mirror has a compact footprint suitable for practical placement on a bedside table or dressing chest. Today, this mirror serves as a functional and decorative tabletop accessory for a bedroom or dressing area. The silvered reflective surface and scalloped border provide an authentic vintage aesthetic that integrates easily into traditional and retro bedroom schemes. Placed upon a dressing table or bedside surface, the mirror offers a convenient reflective surface while maintaining a distinct period character rooted in Art Deco design. Its easel back construction allows for straightforward positioning without the need for wall mounting, making it adaptable for various surface placements around the home.

FAQs

Art Deco mirrors are defined by geometric silhouettes, clean lines, scalloped borders, and high-contrast bevelled edges that emerged during the 1920s and 1930s.

These mirrors typically feature silvered sheet glass with hand-bevelled or ground edges, supported by wooden, chrome, or heavy board easel backing mechanisms.

Authentic pieces display period backing materials such as easel stands or wooden boards, characteristic edge bevels, and subtle signs of silvering wear or edge oxidisation.

Place the mirror on a dressing table, bedside stand, or bathroom counter to provide funcionality while introducing geometric surface reflection to the room.

Dust gently with a lint-free microfibre cloth and apply glass cleaner lightly to the cloth rather than directly to the glass to prevent moisture seeping into the back edges.
