The nude winged infant, known as putti or cherub, supports a large carved pine scallop shell (with hinged top revealing small storage) as if making an offering, standing on a shaped base, decorated with more shells. This beautifully ornate, Baroque putti statue is an impressive statue for an interior inspired by Baroque and Renaissance styles, showcasing the remarkable talent of the 19th century woodcarver.
