Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Regency toilet mirror is from the William IV period and is constructed from warm brown mahogany and white marble. The piece consists of an adjustable rectangular glass mirror set within a wooden frame, supported by scrolled side supports on a swivel mechanism. The rectangular base features a white marble inset top, stepped wooden mouldings, and reeded feet at each corner. This table mirror measures 66 cm high, 40.5 cm wide, and 40.5 cm deep. In a modern home, this mirror is placed on top of a sideboard, chest of drawers, or vanity table. It provides a functional reflective surface while serving as a decorative accessory in a bedroom, hallway, or living room.

FAQs

Dust the timber with a soft microfibre cloth and apply beeswax annually, ensuring stone cleaner is used strictly on the marble inset to prevent chemical damage to the polished wood.

Position the mirror atop a contemporary sideboard, hallway console, or bedroom chest of drawers to introduce historical contrast and reflect natural light across the room.

Authentic pieces from this period exhibit characteristic bold scroll supports, heavy architectural bases, fine flame mahogany veneers, and original lead-weighted or turned adjusting knobs.

These pieces were typically crafted using mahogany or rosewood veneers over pine or oak framing, often featuring inset marble bases, brass turn-screws, and silvered glass plates.

A William IV toilet mirror is a tabletop swivelling mirror produced during the 1830s, designed to sit atop a dressing table or chest of drawers for personal grooming.
