Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Designed during the mid-18th century, George II wingback armchairs feature high backs, padded side wings, and sturdy timber frames. The wings were originally engineered to protect the sitter from draughts and retain heat from open hearths.

Mid-18th century wingback armchairs were constructed with solid hardwood frames, typically oak or beech, upholstered in natural leather, tapestry, or wool. Internal filling often consisted of horsehair and webbing, secured with brass close-nail studding and solid mahogany legs.

Authentic George II seating typically exhibits hand-carved joinery, square or cabriole legs, H-stretchers for structural reinforcement, and natural wear along the timber and upholstery. Inspecting the underside for hand-sawn frame timbers and early upholstery tacks helps verify period origin.

Positioning an antique leather wing chair alongside modern minimalist decor creates visual interest through textural contrast. Placing the item near a floor lamp or fireplace with a simple side table integrates warm leather tones into contemporary living spaces.

Keep antique leather furniture away from direct heat sources and bright sunlight to prevent desiccation and fading. Treat the leather periodically with a specialist wax or leather conditioner, and dust the timber legs using a soft dry cloth.
