Culvertons has dated this piece to the Before 1700 period.
However, combine 300 + years of use, both as a side chair and as a side dish for walnut loving woodworm (they left long ago), together with those lighter elegant walnut frames, and you have two stable, highly decorative, but not particularly usable early English chairs full of character and history.
The measurements below are for the larger chair - however, there is very little difference in size between the two.
