Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A set of twelve single Georgian dining chairs originates from the eighteenth century, constructed from rich brown mahogany with moulded front legs and square tapered legs. Each chair displays a shaped crest rail and a pierced vertical splat in the backrest, complemented by fixed seat upholstery in plain green fabric. The timber surfaces show visible grain variations and warm medium-brown tones, while the fabric seats exhibit a soft matte texture. Measuring 92 cm high, 51 cm wide, and 55 cm deep, these twelve matching seats arrange neatly around a large dining table in a formal dining room or spacious family kitchen. Their traditional profile suits a period interior or an English country house setting, providing practical everyday seating for hosting large dinner parties and family meals.

FAQs

Georgian dining chairs from the 18th century are defined by their balanced proportions, dense mahogany timber, and detailed hand-carved back splats.

Craftsmen primarily utilised solid dense mahogany, mortise and tenon joints fastened with wooden pegs, and natural horsehair padding under upholstered drop-in seats.

Authentic pieces feature irregular hand-cut joinery, signs of natural timber oxidisation beneath the frames, and wear patterns consistent with age along the lower rails.

Positioning a set of classical dark wood chairs around a modern minimalist dining table creates a balanced contrast of traditional and contemporary elements.

Keep mahogany furniture away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage, and apply a high-grade beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain.
