Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A campaign writing slope is a portable wooden box designed during the 18th and 19th centuries for military officers and travellers to write while away from a permanent desk. These boxes unfolded to provide an angled writing surface, inkwell compartments, and internal storage for paper and pens.

These slopes were typically constructed from robust hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or teak to withstand travel. They feature flush-fitting brass corner brackets, strappings, handles, and escutcheon plates designed to prevent snagging during transport.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, flush brass hardware screwed directly into the timber, and original locks with keyholes. The interior usually contains a leather or velvet writing surface split along the hinge line alongside concealed compartments.

A campaign writing slope can be styled flat or display-opened on an office desk, sideboard top, or library shelf as a functional accent piece. It also serves as stylish storage for stationery, letters, or modern accessories.

Keep the wood nourished by applying a high-quality beeswax polish along the grain and buffing gently with a soft cloth. Avoid placing the box near direct heat sources or high humidity to prevent timber shrinkage, warping, or cracking.
