Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large nineteenth-century French Louis Philippe mirror displays a carved wooden frame with a distressed off-white finish and curved upper corners over a flat base. The construction incorporates a moulded frame surrounding the original mirror plate, complemented by the original backboards at the rear. The piece measures 140 cm high, 86 cm wide, and 4 cm deep. Positioned in a contemporary interior, the mirror suits placement above a mantelpiece in a living room, drawing room, or bedroom to reflect natural light and enhance the sense of space. The muted tones and weathered surface integrate smoothly into both traditional and transitional domestic schemes.

A Louis Philippe mirror is characterised by its clean lines, rounded upper corners, flat base, and simple moulded frame, reflecting the elegant 19th-century French aesthetic.

Frame bases were crafted from solid timber such as pine or lime wood, layered with gesso, and finished with gilding, silver leaf, or paint, holding a heavy glass mirror plate.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-carved joinery on the rear wooden backing boards, natural oxidation or foxing on the glass, and genuine surface wear across the gesso layer.

Position the piece above a fireplace mantel, rest it atop a sideboard, or lean it against a neutral wall to draw natural light into the room.

Dust the frame regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, avoid applying water or chemical cleaners directly to painted surfaces, and keep the mirror away from severe damp.
