Description

A fine George III Sheraton pair of inlaid mahogany cutlery knife boxes; in well figured mahogany having an excellent colour and patination; the traditional serpentine form having the sloping hinged lids with mirror image veneers, revealing the original interiors having divisions, with boxwood and ebony stringing, for knifes, forks and spoons. The interior of the lids having exceptional inlaid sycamore oval fan paterae with ebony and boxwood stringing. The well figured mahogany serpentine fronts having inlaid swags of harebells, flanked by canted corners. The base having an ebony slender moulded edge with the original baize to the underside. Retaining original working locks and keys.
