We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Gothic Revival movement gained prominence in Britain during the mid-19th century, drawing inspiration from medieval architecture and design motifs such as pointed arches, crenellation, and heavy turned woodwork.

These pieces were typically constructed from dense hardwoods like oak or walnut, featuring mortise and tenon joints, hand-carved details, turned uprights, and traditional upholstery secured with brass studding.

Authentication involves examining timber oxidisation, hand-cut joinery marks, traditional stuffing materials within the upholstery, and makers stamps or brass castors consistent with 19th-century manufacturing techniques.

Pairing this piece with minimalist contemporary furnishings allows the historic craftsmanship and architectural silhouette to serve as a striking focal point in a study or living space.

Maintain stable indoor humidity and temperature levels, keep the wooden frame nourished with appropriate natural waxes, and protect the upholstery from direct sunlight to prevent fading and fiber degradation.
