Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Dressing and shaving stands became prominent during the English Regency period in the early 19th century. Designed primarily for gentlemens dressing rooms, these freestanding pieces integrated an adjustable mirror and a small surface tray to hold grooming accoutrements.

Pieces from this period were predominantly crafted from solid woods such as walnut or mahogany. Functional components, including telescoping shafts and mirror brackets, were engineered from brass.

Authentic period stands display hand-turned wood components, hand-cut brass fittings, and signs of genuine wear along the height adjustment rod. The underside of the tripod legs and tray typically show hand-planed finishes rather than modern machine marks.

These compact stands function effectively as decorative focal points in empty corners, dressing rooms, or wide hallways. The mirror surface reflects light while the tiered structure offers a compact display area for personal items.

Apply a clear beeswax polish periodically along the grain to preserve the wood finish. Brass elements should be wiped with a clean dry cloth to maintain natural patination without using abrasive chemical cleaners.
