Set of 10 mid-C19th carved mahogany dining chairs in the Chippendale style.
Good set of 10 (comprising 8 singles+ 2 carvers) mahogany chairs in the mid C18th style to the designs of Thomas Chippendale .
Well-carved elaborate interlaced open splat backs with leaf-carving detail and flamboyantly-shaped top-rails with leaf-carved ''ears''.
The broad serpentine-fronted seats with ''drop-in'' seat pads ,raised on shaped cabriole legs with acanthus leaf carving to the knees and terminating in ''claw-and-ball'' feet.
The larger-proportioned pair of armchairs with conforming decoration , the shaped arms with leaf-carving to the ends which have achieved pleasing wear and patina.
Excellent C18th period-style generous proportions and scale, constructed in traditional manner.
Good rich colour and period-style patina.
Furniture to the designs and taste of Thomas Chippendale saw a fashionable revival during this mid C19th period .
