A good original child''s chair of boarded construction, with shaping to the top of the backrest and sides and ogee-shaping to the front apron and base of the sides. The seat lifts up to reveal the typical circular cut-out.
The chair is made from oak and rests on its original pine rockers, which are much longer and dramatic than most (there are some old splits towards the front of the true right-hand rocker). It would originally have had a restraining rod across the front.
Nice untouched surface.
Circa 1780.
24.5 inches high, 13.5 inches wide, 10 inches deep (rockers 26 inches)
