Late Victorian display cabinets feature glazed panels, refined timber frames, and neoclassical influences such as inlaid stringing or tapered legs, designed to showcase porcelain, glassware, and curiosities.

These cabinets were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany, walnut, or rosewood, often accented with satinwood marquetry, brass fittings, float glass, and interior fabric linings.

Authentic pieces typically demonstrate hand-cut dovetail joints, period glass panels, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and natural age-related patina on both the timber and interior lining.

Position the cabinet in a reception room, hallway, or dining space to present curated ceramics, books, or art objects, leveraging the glazed sides to maximise light flow.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, apply natural beeswax along the grain twice yearly, clean glass panels carefully, and position away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
