This nineteenth-century Irish oval wall mirror is designed in a grand Regency style, measuring 80 cm high, 65 cm wide, and 9 cm deep. The ebonised wooden frame features a cavetto profile decorated with an outer ring of clear facetted glass roundels, an inner silver-gilt border with a cross-hatched pattern, and an inner edge mounted with cobalt blue glass cabochons. The piece retains its original silvered mirror plate, which displays minor aged atmospheric speckling, along with its original back-boards on the reverse. Suitable for placement above a mantel in a traditional living room or hallway, the mirror provides a striking focal point for interior spaces. The combination of black, silver, and vibrant blue elements creates a visually rich decorative accessory appropriate for period-style homes. The original mounts remain intact with no losses, preserving the authentic character of the antique Irish glasswork.

Originating in late eighteenth and nineteenth-century Ireland, these mirrors typically feature oval frames adorned with facetted glass studs, cobalt blue glass cabochons, and alternating ebonised or gilt mouldings.

Frames were constructed from timber, finished with oil or water gilding, ebonised paint, and inset with facetted crystal or coloured glass cabochons secured within plaster or metal settings.

Genuine period examples exhibit hand-cut glass cabochons with subtle irregularities, mercury or silvering degradation on the mirror plate, and hand-carved wooden backing boards showing natural age marks.

Position the mirror above a console table, fireplace mantelpiece, or within a gallery wall to create a focal point that contrasts modern architectural lines with historic texture.

Dust gently with a soft microfibre cloth, avoid chemical cleaners on gilded or ebonised surfaces, and clean mirror glass using damp cotton pads restricted strictly to the central glass area.
