The English Interior has dated these Chinese Chippendale Armchairs to the Edwardian era.

They feature classic Chinese Chippendale style open rectangular backrests and matching armrests decorated with crisp, intersecting lattice fretwork. Happliy they also retain their original paint and decorative finish. This is a combination of a soft terracotta-red painted ground, accented with finely hand-painted gilded/gold details which feature intricate diaper-and-lattice geometric motifs along the seat rails, delicate linear gilt framing along the frame profiles, and decorative fretwork corner spandrels under the seat apron.

Both chairs are supported on straight, square-section front legs with decorative corner brackets, paired with elegant splayed back legs for balance and stability.?
The drop in seats are traditionally constructed with webbing and horsehair and they are finished in a clean, neutral cream/off-white linen-blend fabric, and ready to upholster in a fabric of your choice.

The frames remain sturdy and structurally sound. The painted and gilt surfaces display fine, authentic distress, light edge rubbing, and age-appropriate patination that highlight their character and period authenticity.
