Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of late Victorian bedroom chairs features warm brown walnut frames and light green patterned upholstered seats and backs. The English Country House style pieces have carved cabriole legs supported on brass castors, showing detailed wooden carving around the frames. Each chair measures 79 cm high, 52 cm wide, and 58 cm deep. The upholstered backs are shaped to offer comfortable support, while the curved wooden framework displays rich grain patterns throughout the polished finish. Suitable for use in a traditional bedroom, dressing room, or as occasional seating in a drawing room, these practical chairs bring classic period character to an interior. The fabric remains clean and serviceable for everyday placement in the home, combining traditional craftsmanship with functional seating.

FAQs

Late Victorian bedroom chairs are low-seated upholstered accent chairs designed without arms, intended for dressing rooms and bedrooms. They feature decorative timber framesfrequently walnut or mahoganywith curved seat outlines, carved accents, and front castors.

Constructed with solid hardwood frames such as walnut, rosewood, or mahogany, these chairs used traditional upholstery methods including coil springs, horsehair filling, jute webbing, and decorative woven fabrics like damask, velvet, or brocade.

Authentic pieces feature solid walnut framing with hand-carved details, original brass or ceramic castors, traditional joinery such as mortise and tenon, and age-consistent wear or oxidisation on the timber underside.

Place a pair of these low-profile chairs in a bay window, bedroom corner, or hallway to add historic texture and warm wood tones. They contrast cleanly with contemporary neutral backdrops and minimalist soft furnishings.

Dust the timber frame regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax twice yearly along the grain. Keep fabric upholstery clean by light vacuuming with a soft brush attachment and position away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
