This Edwardian display cabinet dates to 1910 and follows the Sheraton Revival style, constructed from warm brown mahogany with satinwood crossbanding, a central oval marquetry panel, and brass drop-ring drawer pulls. The piece stands 149 cm high, 137 cm wide, and 43 cm deep, incorporating a stepped upper gallery, a central wooden cupboard with a small drawer above, and two flanking glazed cabinets fitted with shelves behind astragal glazing bars. Slender square tapered legs support the structure at the base. Positioned in a living room, dining room, or hallway, the cabinet provides practical display and storage space for tableware, books, or decorative objects. The interior surfaces visible through the glass display sections are lined with white fabric. The mahogany timber displays polished finishing across the tiered top surfaces and moulded frames, completing an English country house furniture design suited for everyday domestic use.

Emerging in the early 20th century, Edwardian Sheraton Revival furniture drew inspiration from 18th-century designs by Thomas Sheraton, characterised by balanced proportions, straight lines, mahogany construction, and satinwood or boxwood inlay.

These cabinets typically feature primary structures of mahogany, enriched with marquetry or stringing in satinwood, boxwood, and ebony, along with glass panes, brass hardware, and interior textile linings.

Authentic Edwardian pieces often display machine-assisted dovetail joints alongside hand-finishing, slender square tapered legs, astragal glazing with narrow wooden bars, and marquetry work using contrasting timber veneers.

Position the cabinet against a neutral wall in a living area, hallway, or dining space, filling the glass shelves with contemporary ceramics, books, or glass objects to create a balance between historical joinery and modern design.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a dry lint-free cloth and applying beeswax sparingly once or twice a year, keeping the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent veneer movement and timber fading.
