Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This solid oak Arts and Crafts armchair dates from around 1900 and displays a natural wax finish over golden-toned timber. The frame incorporates galleried arm rests with vertical slats, broad flat paddle armrests, and shaped front supports standing on slightly curved feet. Newly upholstered covers on the seat and high back feature a botanical foliage pattern in shades of soft blue, green, and cream. Measuring 95.5 cm high, 74.5 cm wide, and 84.5 cm deep, the chair occupies a comfortable proportion for a reading nook or fireside seating area. The straightforward joinery and sturdy proportions suit traditional English country house interiors and contemporary living spaces alike, providing reliable everyday support.

Originating in the late nineteenth century as a reaction against industrial mass production, the Arts and Crafts movement emphasised handcrafted construction, simple geometric forms, and the natural grain of materials like native oak.

Chairs from this period were predominantly crafted from solid oak or beech using mortise and tenon joinery, paired with natural fibre upholstery, leather, or woven rush seating.

Look for visible joinery, unvarnished or wax-finished timber showcasing wood grain, broad flat armrests, rectilinear framing, and botanical or medieval-inspired textile patterns.

Position the armchair alongside neutral walls, woven wool rugs, and understated lighting to allow the natural oak grain and patterned upholstery to serve as an organic accent feature.

Clean the oak frame periodically with a soft cloth and beeswax polish, while vacuuming the upholstery gently on a low setting and keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
