Billy Hunt and Co is located on a large Victorian farm just a short country drive from the Rangemore village, a designated conservation area, which was built by Michael Thomas Bass in the 1850s to house the Bass Rangemore Estate workers consisting mainly of Victorian redbrick cottages and the occasional barn.

Our home is a classic Victorian designed and well equipped late 19th century 2 story red brick built barn of some 4000 sq feet nestled in classic English countryside, which enjoyed a careful full renovation in 2000. The estate still benefits being managed in the traditional manner with an Estate Manger, estate carpenter, gardeners etc. A rather delightful place to have as our work space.

Martina, there is no Billy at Billy hunt, has led the team since 2103 and is an interior designer qualified from The Inchbald School of Design London whose previous working life included such clients as Vertu, Aston Martin and Johnnie Walker to name a few.

Please do not hesitate to call or email if you have any questions on the pieces that may interest you - Many thanks Martina

This Arts and Crafts armchair dates from 1910 and is made from warm brown oak with a beeswax finish. The chair includes a high adjustable reclining back and a seat upholstered in oatmeal-coloured woven fabric with buttoning. Further details include flat armrests, turned front legs with shaped feet, and vertical side splats pierced with vertical oval openings. Overall dimensions measure Height 94cm x Width 69cm x Depth 81cm, extending to 113cm when reclined, with a seat height of 35cm. In a modern home, this piece suits a living room or study as a comfortable reading chair. The design fits well within an English Country House aesthetic or a traditional interior setting.

Arts and Crafts seating from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries focuses on traditional craftsmanship, functional form, and visible joinery. Pieces often feature solid timber frames, cut-out vertical splats, and simple geometric profiles.

These armchairs were predominantly constructed from solid oak, ash, or beech, paired with drop-in or loose padded cushions upholstered in woven wool, linen, or leather.

Authentic period recliners feature hand-fitted mortise and tenon joints, notched wooden or brass ratchets at the rear of the armrests, and natural wood grain finishes rather than modern chemical laminates.

A period reclining chair works well in a contemporary reading nook or living room, where the warm timber tones contrast with neutral walls and modern textured textiles.

Solid oak should be dusted regularly with a dry cloth and nourished annually with clear beeswax polish. Keep timber away from direct heat sources to prevent cracking or warping.
