Antique Victorian Balloon Back Dining Chairs Set of 4 C.1870

A beautiful set of four antique Victorian balloon back dining chairs, dating from approximately 1860–1880.

Each chair features the elegant open balloon shaped back characteristic of mid Victorian furniture, with a gently shaped crest rail and flowing curved uprights creating a particularly graceful silhouette.

The chairs stand on finely turned front legs, complemented by gently swept rear legs and shaped seat rails. The warm polished timber has developed an attractive colour and character over many years, with natural variations in tone and patina.

All four chairs have upholstered seats finished in a charming floral fabric, featuring soft pink, burgundy, green and neutral tones against a light background. The upholstery complements the warm timber particularly well and makes the set suitable for both traditional and more eclectic interiors.

The chairs are presented in very good antique condition, with age related marks, light surface wear and variations in colour and finish consistent with their age and previous use. These characteristics form part of their genuine antique appeal.
