This pair of French bedside cabinets belongs to the 1930 period in the French Louis XVI style. Constructed from dark brown walnut, they display inset marble tops encircled by brass gallery rails, alongside brass drawer trim, brass caps on the fluted tapered feet, and small round drawer handles. Each cabinet measures 38 cm wide by 30 cm deep by 67 cm high. Suitable for placement beside a bed in a bedroom, these cabinets provide useful surface space and two storage drawers within a compact footprint. Their warm wood tones and classical hardware integrate smoothly into traditional or transitional interior schemes while offering everyday utility.

French bedside cabinets produced in the 1930s reflecting the Louis XVI style typically feature straight neoclassically inspired lines, tapered fluted legs, rectangular silhouettes, and decorative brass or bronze mouldings. They frequently incorporate marble inset tops and small drawers designed for bedroom storage.

These pieces are constructed using solid fine hardwoods such as walnut or mahogany, topped with fitted natural marble panels. Edge trim and gallery rails are made from cast or drawn brass, while drawer handles are typically brass or gilded bronze.

Authentic pieces exhibit traditional joinery techniques such as hand-cut dovetails on drawer boxes, original marble inserts with natural edge patination, hand-turned fluted legs, and fitted brass galleries fixed around the top perimeter.

Position them symmetrically on either side of a upholstered or timber bedframe to anchor the room. Alternatively, use them individually as side tables flanking a sofa or placing one in an alcove to hold task lighting and decorative objects.

Clean marble surfaces using a soft cloth dampened with pH-neutral water and dry immediately to prevent water spots. Timber surfaces benefit from light applications of beeswax, while brass galleries should be kept dust-free using a soft brush.
