Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This seventeenth-century Jacobean Bible box originates from England and stands as a practical antique storage piece constructed from solid oak with a dark brown finish. The rectangular chest has a moulded hinged top lid, a carved front panel decorated with scrollwork motifs, and an original iron keyplate escutcheon. Visible physical characteristics include a missing metal top catch, natural surface wear, and a rich timber colour. Measuring 67 cm long by 43 cm deep and 21 cm high, the compact box fits neatly onto a sideboard top, entryway console, or study desk to store letters, stationery, or keepsakes in a traditional home setting.

Originally designed during the 17th century to store family Bibles, documents, and writing equipment, these portable oak boxes featured lockable lids to secure personal household papers and valuables.

Period boxes were constructed using solid native oak, featuring hand-cut joinery, hand-carved face panels, iron strap hinges, and forged iron lock plates.

Authentic pieces exhibit evidence of historic hand tools, hand-carved geometric or foliage motifs, natural timber shrinkage over time, and original ironwork with historical oxidisation.

These compact wooden boxes serve as functional tabletop storage on sideboards, desks, or console tables, introducing visual texture and historical depth to modern rooms.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the timber and maintain the existing surface finish.
