This Victorian revolving desk chair exhibits a classic gentleman's library style with a substantial mahogany frame and original tan hide upholstery in a warm brown colour. The piece includes a high back with vertical wrinkles, a deep circular sprung seat edged with brass studding, open curved padded armrests with scrolled handgrips, and turned front legs fitted with brass castors. It stands 96.5 cm high, 65 cm wide, and 73.5 cm deep, with a seat height of 48 cm. Suited for a home study or executive office, the chair functions as a practical seating option for a partner's desk or writing table while adding period character to a working interior.

Originating in the nineteenth century, Victorian revolving desk chairs were engineered for study and office use, featuring an integrated metal swivel mechanism fitted to a solid timber frame with leather upholstery.

These chairs typically combine solid hardwood frames, such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, with leather hide upholstery, brass close-studding, and cast-iron revolving mechanisms resting on castors.

Authentic examples feature heavy cast-iron revolving mechanisms beneath the seat, hand-turned wooden legs, brass castors, and close-nail studding along the natural leather borders.

Position the chair alongside a minimalist modern desk or within a traditional home library setting to create visual contrast between historic leather patination and contemporary architectural lines.

Keep the leather away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying, and apply a specialised leather conditioner periodically to preserve flexibility and moisture.
