Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Revolving desk chairs gained popularity during the mid-to-late nineteenth century as commercial offices and private home studies expanded. Crafted predominantly from mahogany, oak, or walnut, these chairs integrated mechanical cast iron swivel mechanisms beneath traditional cabinetmaker-built timber frames.

These chairs were constructed using dense hardwoods such as mahogany or oak, featuring cast iron mechanical components for the rotation mechanism. The seats were frequently upholstered in leather, finished with decorative brass studs along the perimeter.

Authentic period examples display heavy cast iron swivel mechanism hardware underneath the seat, often held by hand-cut screws. Look for solid mahogany construction with authentic hand-carved details, naturally aged timber surface patination, and hand-fitted joinery.

Pair the chair with a modern minimalist oak desk or a traditional writing bureau to create a focal seating area. The rich wood tones and leather texture provide contrast within contemporary home office spaces.

Apply clear beeswax polish to the mahogany framework along the grain to protect the timber finish. Treat the leather upholstery periodically with a dedicated leather conditioner, and lubricate the mechanical iron swivel mechanism with light machine oil when required.
