Description

William IV Bird’s-Eye Maple Wall Mirror, c.1830–1840 with a broad rectangular frame veneered in richly figured bird’s-eye maple, displaying the distinctive swirling grain and small burr-like markings for which the timber is prized. The maple is beautifully warm in colour and is set off by a narrow giltwood inner slip, giving the mirror a particularly elegant, understated appearance. The simple architectural form and use of highly figured maple are characteristic of fashionable English interiors during the late Regency and William IV periods. New mirror plate.
