Description

Fabulous pair of George II mahogany chairs, beautifully made and wonderfully carved throughout. The top rails feature acanthus leafwork and flowers at the centre, with scrolling shoulder terminals; the unusually wide splat has impressive fretwork and a carved philosopher's knot at the centre, flanked by flowers. The perfectly weighted front legs are boldly carved with acanthus leaf and claw-and-ball feet, with fine gadrooning to the quadrant bead on the seat rail.

The chairs have had small repairs over the years, but all the original parts remain in place.
