Description

GILLOW & CO. RENAISSANCE REVIVAL WALNUT CABINET ON STAND, in the manner of Stephen Webb. C 1890 and of exceptional quality, this cabinet is constructed from solid walnut and is finely carved with an upper frieze of satyr mask, birds and acanthus scrolls, over two panelled doors carved with further scrolls and centred with Romanesque profiles, opening to a single shelf, all flanked with plasters of classical urns and cornucopia. The stand fitted with a single drawer stamped 'Gillow & Co.' and numbered 1748, and with acanthus carved and tapered square columns and platform shelf with panelled back, raised on block ogee feet. Overall dimensions are 183cm height x107cm width x 41cm depth. Item can be collected from LL29 or please contact seller for possible delivery quote.

This nineteenth-century Renaissance Revival cabinet-on-stand is made from solid walnut with a dark brown finish and brass hardware. The upper section comprises an architectural cornice with a high-relief carved frieze showing a satyr mask, birds and acanthus scrolls, above twin panelled doors featuring scalloped shell details, Romanesque profiles in central medallions, and intricate foliate carvings. Flanking pilasters display classical urns, cornucopia and figural capitals. The lower stand incorporates two drawers fitted with decorative brass drop handles and a central keyhole escutcheon, supported by acanthus-carved tapering square columns over a panelled back, a lower platform shelf, and block ogee feet. The item measures 183 cm high by 107 cm wide by 41 cm deep.
