A pair of Greek Revival mahogany framed chairs, possibly to a design by Alexander 'Greek' Thomson (1817-1875)

Wylie and Lochhead of Glasgow are a likely candidate as maker, each back leg with registration stamps 4921 and 4922

Armchair: 92cm high x 71cm wide x 75cm deep, seat height 4.5cm

Tub chair: 88.5cm high x 58cm wide x 63cm deep, seat height : 40cm

Both recently upholstered in thick brown leather. Both frames are made of fine, dense mahogany and are sound and robust. The right hand lattice arm support has been repaired and there are knocks and dents concentrated around the legs of the chairs, and specifically the carved Greek key band on one front leg. Both chairs run on Copes Patent castors.
