Victorian Gothic Revival Side Chair

Description

A really unusual late Victorian Gothic Revival side chair dating from circa 1900. The high backrest showcases spire-like pointed finials, reminiscent of cathedral architecture while the back panel features carved linen fold detailing. The legs are elegantly turned with bulbous ring detailing and it has arched spandrels to the apron. The drop-in rush seat is constructed in a classic four-triangle pattern tapering toward the centre. In good condition, solid and sturdy, this chair is a real statement piece.
