Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This small 19th century table mirror follows a French Rococo Revival style. It exhibits warm brown kingwood veneer arranged in a herringbone parquetry pattern across its cartouche-shaped frame, complemented by a beaded brass inner slip holding the original glass plate. Visible details include natural grain variations in the timber, subtle patination on the reflective glass surface, and a gently scalloped lower edge. Measuring 34 cm high and 28 cm wide, the piece sits upright on a flat surface using a hinged back support. It functions well on a sideboard top, vanity, or console table in a bedroom or hallway to add a traditional decorative accent to the interior.

FAQs

A 19th-century kingwood table mirror is a compact, freestanding glass mirror framed in kingwood veneer, a dense timber popularised during French Rococo and Revival periods for vanity items and decorative small furnishings.

These mirrors typically feature an oak or soft-wood core covered with decorative kingwood parquetry veneer, a beaded brass slip holding the mirror plate, and an integrated easel backing.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-cut timber parquetry, natural age-related oxidisation or foxing on the glass plate, original brass trim, and hand-assembled structural joints on the reverse.

Place the mirror atop a contemporary dressing table, hallway console, or sideboard to introduce warm timber grain, classical geometry, and reflected light to modern living spaces.

Dust the timber frame regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply natural beeswax sparingly to preserve the veneer, while cleaning the glass using a lightly dampened, lint-free cloth without wetting the wooden edges.
