Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Regency mahogany dressing mirror has a warm brown finish with boxwood inlay, a single drawer base, and an adjustable swing rectangular glass plate. The piece is built from figured mahogany with brass hardware, and stands on turned beehive feet with turned upright posts topped by beehive finials, complemented by side turning knobs and a central diagonal inlaid keyhole escutcheon. The old mirror plate shows foxing and small specks of silver loss, while the timber displays natural marks and wear consistent with age, alongside later Victorian ebonised turning knobs. Measuring 56 cm high by 46 cm wide and 21 cm deep, the mirror sits comfortably on a chest of drawers, sideboard, or dressing table in a bedroom or hallway to provide a traditional reflective surface for grooming.

FAQs

A Regency toilet mirror, also known as a toilet glass or dressing mirror, is a small tabletop mirror produced during the early 19th century, designed to sit on top of a chest of drawers or dressing table.

These mirrors were primarily constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, featuring hand-dovetailed base drawers, turned wood or brass adjusters, and mercurial glass plates.

Authentic pieces feature original hand-cut drawer joinery, minor surface irregularities in the glass plate, turned side uprights with finials, and natural age patination across the timber.

This piece can be placed atop a bedroom chest of drawers, a hallway console table, or a bathroom counter to introduce warm wood tones and historical structure to contemporary spaces.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically to preserve the timber finish, avoiding liquid glass cleaners near the wooden frame.
