Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the mid-19th century, Victorian nursing or slipper chairs feature low seat heights, armless profiles, and deeply buttoned upholstery originally designed to accommodate full Victorian skirts while seated low to the floor.

Frames were predominantly crafted from solid walnut, rosewood, or mahogany, featuring hand-carved details, serpentine seat fronts, steel coil springs, natural hair stuffing, and plush velvet or damask upholstery.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved timber mouldings, original ceramic or brass castors on cabriole front legs, deep diamond buttoning, and traditional joinery such as dowel or mortise and tenon construction.

A Victorian occasional chair functions well as a decorative accent piece in a modern bedroom corner, dressing room, or alongside a contemporary fireplace to add historical texture and contrasting silhouettes.

Vacuum velvet gently with a soft brush attachment in the direction of the pile, position the chair away from direct sunlight to prevent colour fading, and nourish the walnut frame periodically with a high-grade beeswax polish.
