Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Edwardian era, commercial display cabinets were designed for retail environments such as pharmacies and perfumeries to showcase branded goods. They typically feature slim mahogany framing, expansive glass panels, and gold leaf gilding or painted typography on the glass.

These cabinets were predominantly crafted using dense hardwoods such as mahogany, featuring traditional joinery, brass hinges, and glass panes. Interior shelving was typically made of glass or timber to maximise light visibility for displayed items.

Authentic pieces often exhibit original gilded or hand-painted reverse-glass lettering, period-correct brass hardware with natural patination, and hand-cut joinery along the plinth and cornice. Inspection of backboards will reveal age-appropriate shrinkage and tool marks.

An antique glazed display cabinet can serve as a focal point in a hallway, dining space, or study to display curated ceramics, glassware, or collectibles. Contrast the dark timber against neutral wall surfaces or integrate it within a dark-toned scheme to highlight its silhouette.

Clean the timber surfaces using a soft cloth and beeswax polish, avoiding liquid cleaners near gilded or hand-painted glass lettering. Dust glass surfaces gently with microfibre cloths to protect original gold leaf work from flaking or abrasion.
