Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Anglo-Indian furniture from this era combines traditional Western Victorian forms with Eastern woodcarving techniques. It typically features dense local hardwoods decorated with openwork fretwork, floral motifs, and turned structural elements.

These chairs were predominantly crafted from solid tropical hardwoods native to the Indian subcontinent, such as rosewood, teak, or padauk. Seats were either fitted with woven cane or padded with upholstered fabric panels.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved detailing with subtle structural irregularities, heavy tropical hardwood construction, and period-appropriate features such as spiral-twist uprights and ceramic or brass castors.

Position the chair as a standalone accent piece in a hallway, reading corner, or study to contrast against clean contemporary lines. Pair dark wood tones with neutral wall palettes to emphasise the decorative carving.

Remove dust regularly using a soft dry cloth or a soft-bristled brush to reach inside intricate relief carvings. Apply a small amount of clear beeswax polish annually, and keep the wood away from direct heat sources to prevent timber movement.
