Pair of Early 20th Century Wingback Armchairs
Item Code: EL12/775
A handsome pair of early 20th-century wingback armchairs, each with a tall shaped back, pronounced wings, enclosed arms and a loose seat cushion.
The chairs are raised on cabriole front legs terminating in carved claw-and-ball feet, with square supports to the rear. Their generous proportions and high backs give them a strong, comfortable presence, making them well suited to a drawing room, library or fireside setting.
The existing pale blue patterned upholstery shows wear, discolouration and staining, and the chairs would benefit from re-upholstery. They provide an excellent opportunity to be recovered in a fabric of choice.
