Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in the late 19th century, emphasizing structural honesty, hand craftsmanship, and functional form. Furniture from this period avoids excessive ornamentation, focusing instead on visible joinery, native timbers, and simple geometric lines.

Solid native hardwoods, particularly oak, were favoured for their durability and distinctive grain patterns. Seats were typically upholstered in natural materials such as woven wool tweed, leather, or fitted with woven rush.

Authentic pieces feature traditional woodworking techniques including mortise and tenon joinery, prominent grain patterns from quarter-sawn timber, and sturdy unadorned framing. Maker stamps or labels on the underside of the frame also aid identification.

An Arts and Crafts chair introduces organic timber tones and historic character into contemporary spaces. It serves well as a desk chair alongside a simple modern work surface or as an accent chair in a library nook.

Regularly wipe the timber frame with a dry microfiber cloth to remove dust. Apply natural beeswax polish along the wood grain once or twice a year, and vacuum the textile upholstery gently using a soft brush attachment.
