Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A girandole mirror is an ornamental wall mirror fitted with attached candle branches or sconces, designed to reflect light and enhance room illumination in 18th and 19th-century interiors.

These mirrors were typically crafted from hand-carved wood or pine, finished with gesso and gold leaf gilding, and fitted with hand-blown mercurial plate glass and brass or bronze candle arms.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-carved backing timber, hand-cut joinery, genuine water gilding showing subtle wear or reddish bole underneath, and mercury glass with characteristic slight foxing and oxidisation.

Position the pair symmetrically flanking a central artwork, above a fireplace mantelpiece, or over a sideboard in a hallway to add architectural interest, warmth, and reflective light.

Dust the gilded frame gently with a soft, dry brush or feather duster without using liquids, waxes, or chemical cleaners, which can erode fragile gold leaf and water gilding.
