A Pair Of French Walnut Fauteuil Armchairs, 19th C

These open armchairs feature a rectangular padded back and seat covered in white calico, ready for reupholstering. The chairs are designed with down-swept, scrolled curved armrests that extend above a shell and foliate-carved apron. They rest on cabriole legs adorned with acanthus leaves, ending in scrolled, foliate-wrapped hoof feet. The legs are reinforced by an X-shaped stretcher brace for added stability.
