A Fabulous Napoleon III French Silver Plate & Ormalu Jewel Casket

A fabulous French jewel casket, dating from the reign of Napoleon III. The oval body is crafted on a gilt metal (ormalu) frame and has four pierced and cast legs. The exterior is decorated with exquisitely detailed pastoral scenes in silver plate and there is a shield shaped cartouche to the front of the lid. Inside, the casket retains the original silk lining with button detail. A superb example, highly decorative and with a practical use. A lovely gift idea, both practical and decorative. Condition :- Excellent, with no holes, dents or splits. The interior has no rips or tears. A couple of the tiny buttons are missing, commensurate with age and use.
