A highly decorative 19th-century vitrined display cabinet, of serpentine outline, richly ornamented with gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts throughout.
The cabinet is constructed in a warm-toned hardwood, the shaped glazed door flanked by curved glazed side panels, all framed with fine gilt mouldings. The upper section is surmounted by an elaborate pierced and chased ormolu gallery, above a continuous band of scrolling foliate mounts, demonstrating confident mid-19th-century craftsmanship.
The lower panels are exquisitely decorated with hand-painted pastoral scenes, depicting elegant figures in a romantic landscape, framed within gilt borders. These painted panels add a strong narrative and visual richness, typical of Continental decorative furniture of the period.
Raised on gracefull shaped legs, each accented with applied ormolu mounts, the cabinet retains its deep red velvet interior, providing a luxurious backdrop ideal for the display of porcelain, objets d’art, or collectibles.
... The shaped marble top completes the piece with both durability and elegance.
