Description

A superb pair of antique Swedish leather club armchairs. They were recently imported from Sweden, they date from around the 1900-1910 period.

The quality is outstanding, they are of generous proportions, they are well sprung and are extremely comfortable. They stand on solid oak tapered legs and have a gorgeous colour tone.

The condition is excellent for their age, the leather has been enhanced and revived by our leather restorer, the legs have also been re-polished. There are a couple of tiny repairs to the leather seen in the images, overall they have a wonderful patina and no major damage.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The club chair originated in France during the early 20th century, initially known as fauteuil confort due to its deep, low-slung seating and generous proportions designed for relaxation.

Authentic period pieces typically feature a sturdy hardwood frame, hand-tied coil springs, horsehair or wool stuffing, and high-quality vegetable-tanned leather upholstery.

Authentication involves examining the framing methods, patination of the leather, hand-stitched detailing, and traditional joinery rather than modern staples or synthetic foam.

Pair the chair with minimalist lighting and neutral textiles to create a balanced contrast between traditional craftsmanship and modern clean lines.

Preserve vintage leather by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and treat it periodically with specialized leather nourisher to prevent cracking.
