Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

The Sheraton Revival style emerged in late 19th-century Britain, drawing heavy inspiration from the neoclassical designs of Thomas Sheraton and the late 18th-century Adam style, characterised by delicate proportions, satinwood veneers, and hand-painted motifs.

These pieces typically utilised light hardwoods such as satinwood, birch, or beech as a base, often enhanced with exotic wood veneers, hand-painted floral or classical decorations, and woven cane or rush seating panels.

Authentic pieces from the late 19th to early 20th century exhibit period-appropriate joinery, natural ageing of the wood and paint layers, hand-mixed pigments, and subtle irregularities typical of hand-craftsmanship rather than modern printing methods.

Such an accent piece serves well as a focal point in a neutral living room or bedroom, pairing effectively with minimalist modern furnishings to highlight its intricate hand-painted details and classical silhouette.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels to prevent the cane from drying and snapping, avoiding direct sunlight to protect the painted surfaces, and cleaning only with a soft, dry cloth without chemical solvents.
