Description

A fine example of these hard to find "child" chairs....this one is made of fruitwood and comes from the Suffolk village of Mendlesham in East Anglia, which is why it is known as a Mendlesham chair....probably made by the Day family in the early 19thc, who were chair and woodworkers of this area... it has attractive shaped supports and arms, three slats in the back and a slightly curved seat, (typical of this type of chair)....all supported by four slightly tapering legs, which are all joined by square stretchers... ...it has gained a very nice colour and is in good condition.
