19th Century Pollard Oak Campaign Writing Slope or Lap Desk
This is a very rare piece, it is a Campaign Writing Slope, it is made in Pollard Oak and bound in brass, it is an exceptionally fine piece both in terms of the materials used, design and craftsmanship
The interior of the box is a joy, the velvet lining on the slope is a little faded but the rest is full of surprises, the desk is fitted in ebony and has 2 glass ink bottles with silver-plated tops, a stamp tray and a pen tray. On one side there is a sliding compartment and on the other here are also 2 secret drawers
This is a very attractive stationary box, it is 20” wide 11” deep and 6” high when closed (23” long when open)b
