Description

Rare Georgian Harewood & Marquetry Box c. 1800

An exceptional George III harewood box with lift up lid & single drawer, beautifully decorated & inlaid with oval panels of exotic timbers & burr woods to all sides. The box is also decorated with flowing marquetry vines, crossbanded with exotic timbers in herringbone pattern & finished off with very fine chequered boxwood & ebony stringing. The box retains its original lock & key which has been serviced & is in full working order. There is a steel pin with a brass ball which slides in beside the lock to secure the bottom drawer. The box has been lined with hand made marbled paper. Offered for sale in fully restored showroom condition.
